Encouraged by the example of David LaChapelle, last weekend I went to the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (Malba) and I clash with the Alfredo Volpi, an Italian painter but he spent his life in Brazil.
What most caught my attention was that this character, says Tavares de Araújo Olívio in the texts accompanying the exhibition, by not having the necessary resources to train, travel and follow the European trends, Volpi "had to be discovered and inventing all by himself "with" the modernity of his work was ripe for an internal evolution in their own language. "
This form of wording that may sound somewhat shocking, it was quite impressive in the sample. Because of paintings of scenes a little flat popular painter was moving strokes to increasingly abstract until the themes and symbols that identified him until his death and that marked his latest work: compositions and facades' flags '(in the spread, evolution).

But while the style of Volpi could have some thing in common with the movement (for which he saw as an art and not as an expression) that is brewing in the 50s, said Tavares de Araújo in their texts, "the extremely intelectualizado the concrete completely clashed with the basics of painting existential Volpi, as well as working with their conscience. The former painter and decorator remained until his death a craftsman, "says the curator. This aspect of his painting is reflected in the fact that he never wanted to use their rules and colors always remained warm and human.
In addition to appreciating the beauty of his paintings, the rescue of all this that a person might have a parallel development of the times but not conceptualized at his head. Have sensitivity to simply continue their development without worrying about the trends of the moment and yet go further than others. This is what I found this fascinating painter (I say that is not the first nor the last to be so, is only one example).
So strongly recommend this exhibition. As an anecdote that I found interesting also highlight religious figures, as Volpi believed that God was a construction man but still had to make such orders, their portraits are somewhat unrealistic virgin seemingly innocent but with the wisdom of the painter behind.
