From Oct. 25 until Nov. 18 are set at the Centro Cultural Borges (Viamonte esq. St. Martin or the return of Galerias Pacifico) the winning photographs of the World Press Photo contest 2006.
This organization collects and promotes the work of photojournalists at the international level and organizes an annual contest to reward the best images related to the present. The results are always very impressive, not only for the quality of the images but also by the situations that show (at the end, a link to all the winners).
The photo illustrates that the post is the picture of the Year 2006, and portrays a group of Lebanese who returned to his home in southern Beirut, after it had ended the Israeli bombardment. But I find particularly impressive as the photos of a man tied to a pole in Mexico, or the reportage on African immigrants in the Canary Islands (pictures below). They are also very interesting work related to sports.
I do not know how many photos can be viewed here, but it is always richer view this type of images in a larger size, where there are millions of details. The entrance to the exhibition is $ 12 and $ 8 for students and retirees. Open Monday to Saturday from 10 to 21 and Sundays from 12 to 21.
