The magazine New York has published in its latest issue an interview with Carine Roitfeld, which eloquently explains why Vogue Paris is so unique (definitely my favorite fashion magazine) and, in some way, why in Argentina fashion magazines are increasingly boring.
"M Uchôa the world of fashion is reduced to negotiations with insecurity: exploiting it enough to want to buy things, and at the same time feed it to stay close. But Carine Roitfeld is like the X factor in the industry: fashion can not make it feel insecure. Fashion is the place in the world where Roitfeld is most comfortable in your own home. Therefore, the French Vogue is the polar opposite of most American magazines. It's blithe regard to fashion a 'wearable' or accessible to its readers. It is not inclusive: no advice on how to dress if your body is shaped like a pear or if you are to meet 50. [...] The French Vogue manages membership in a club that treats fashion without apology. " Said the journalist Amy Larocca.
Over the rest of the post.
While the above quote is for the journalist, obviously the note includes an interview with Roitfeld. She says things like:
"T he editors are very American, as you say, slick. Very good. His hair is perfect, have manicure. They are very clean, follow fashion. I think not take risks. Take the look of Prada complete. I use many Japanese pieces mixed with a little something classic Hermès and Prada. Although I have left the jeans, never use. "
and:
"M and love the combination of a piece with a feminine male. It is very French, very sexy. It is my culture. It's the way I was brought up. "
Reading this made me think that I do not see in Argentina with so much personality magazines such as Vogue Paris or some American. I do not know if this will be referred to Roitfeld about the Editors ranging as insurance or who want to 'democratize' to fashion. I have nothing against this concept, the subject is that in an effort to 'close' to women 'common', the magazines end up doing productions simply by showing the same clothes that people put on the street. So instead of inspiring, are getting increasingly boring.
Anyway, I leave the link to the note, very interesting for those interested in fashion and groupie of Paris Vogue. The article is in English.
